Montana, United States and aboard a Garathani vessel orbiting Earth, the Heptoral - Present Day

The Garathani are in dire need of compatible females to mate with. Commander Kellen and some other Garathani males are on Earth recruiting females to accompany them to their planet where they will provide the men with the feminine companionship they’ve been yearning for, as well as help them to repopulate their planet. In the midst of a scientific demonstration of just exactly how human females can accommodate the somewhat different anatomy of the Garathani males, Kellen spies an anomaly in the audience, Dr. Monica Teague, who appears to be intoxicated, that can only mean one thing…

Dr. Monica Teague is thrilled to be selected to accompany the Garathani and their new mates to their planet. She’d always wanted to be an astronaut, but she couldn’t pass the necessary physical tests. Now she will get to experience the wonders of space. While watching the Garathani male on stage pound into a volunteer, Monica ponders what it would be like to experience sex like that. But, it will never happen as her sexual equipment is incomplete. As the demonstration continues and temperatures in the room rise, Monica suddenly feels different, sort of like she’s drunk. That’s impossible though, as she hasn’t had a drop to drink.

What Kellen knows (and Monica definitely doesn’t) is that a group of Garathani males visited Earth over thirty years ago and some of them sired children. The female children could never have developed correctly as they need exposure to Garathani pheromones for that process. With the signs Monica is showing, there’s no doubt she is one of those children, and Kellen has already put in his claim for her. Very soon Monica will find out that she’s an alien hybrid, and she’s his.

ALIEN OVERNIGHT is a completely apropos title. Monica is transformed in a very short space of time from her somewhat androgynous self into a sex kitten yearning for her men. Oh, did I say men? Well, I meant it. You see the Garathani males are required to share their women, two men per woman. There is, after all, a shortage of available females. Lucky, lucky females! ;-) Monica isn’t at all averse to the idea of being with Kellen and Lt. Shauss, she’s been attracted to Kellen since the day she first saw him, and there’s not a thing wrong with Shauss either. It’s the shock of finding out that she’s not fully human that’s more disturbing, oh, and the radical changes her body goes through once she starts her development. Kellen is everything a woman could want, loyal, strong, smart and honest. He is a superb example of an Alpha male willing to fight for his woman. For that matter, so is Shauss. The biggest difference between the two men is Shauss’s leaning towards a little bit of kink in the bedroom. Nothing too unusual I assure you. Can this trio become a family, or is it asking too much for two Alphas to share one woman? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

There are enough interesting secondary characters in ALIEN OVERNIGHT to inspire hopes that this is merely the beginning of a series, and comments on the author’s blog seem to support this theory. Ensign Hastion is the Garathani male onstage during the demonstration. Shelley Bonham is one of Monica’s best friends, and though she finds the Garathani somewhat intimidating, she’s willing to stand up to them to defend Monica if necessary. Jasmine King is another of Monica’s friends, and she too will do what she thinks is necessary to support Monica. Ambassador Pret is a gangly Garathani male who suggests Kellen might do well in politics, a suggestion Kellen doesn’t consider likely. Minister Cecine is the head of the Garathani High Council.

In the hopes that there are more stories of the Garathani on the way, I’d like Robin L. Rotham to know that I (and very likely everyone else who reads ALIEN OVERNIGHT) will be eagerly awaiting them. This is the first book by this talented new author and I commend her on a job well done. Stop by Ellora’s Cave and get a copy of ALIEN OVERNIGHT. After all, haven’t you been looking for another author to add to your favorites?
