Earth and
onboard a Felidae warship, The Shahnaz - Present Day
Today started
out good for Rowan Brandt when she was with an amazing amber-eyed
man in her dreams. She had the feeling things were about to get
interesting when the phone rang and woke her up. It seems her alarm
clock didn’t go off and she’s now off to a late start, she gets mud
on her shoe running for the bus and all this happens on her way to
the dentist (the topper for her day). A little yoga should help
relieve the stress, and it’s just starting to work when she hears
more than one stranger behind her, in her apartment. What the h*ll?
Turning, Rowan catches sight of two very furry men, so furry in fact
that they can’t possibly be human. Then the amber-eyed one steps
forward and places something against Rowan’s neck that puts her to
sleep.
Laithe Gatti is
stalking the corridors of his warship, The Shahnaz. He’s infuriated,
he just found his mate in a dream this morning and was attempting to
make a connection with her when a harsh noise awakened her and cut
off her dream. Now she’s being tortured, as he can feel a terrible
pain in her mouth. This has to stop, so Laithe and some of his pride
members pluck Rowan from her apartment and bring her to The Shahnaz
and safety.
Rowan can’t
believe her eyes when she awakens aboard a spaceship surrounded by
men who closely resemble cats, big cats; lions, leopards and more.
Laithe, the amber-eyed man from her dream, informs her that she is
his mate, and though Rowan thinks that this is nuts, she can’t help
but admit that she’s very attracted to the handsome Leo and his
friend Fahd of the Pardus clan. It isn’t long before the three are
trying out new positions and pleasures. Hmm, maybe being kidnapped
by aliens isn’t a bad thing at all. ;-)
LAITHE’S PRIDE
is the first in a new series by Jade Buchanan and if this book is a
good indication of the author’s talents, I’ll definitely be looking
out for the rest of The Felidae series. Rowan is an
adventurous woman, and despite the surprising circumstances and men
that she finds herself surrounded by, she faces her future with
admirable equanimity (and no lack of anticipation). Men outnumber
women ten to one, so Laithe is understandably happy to have found
his mate, and is willing to do whatever it takes to make her happy.
If that means never being with males again sexually (though that’s
traditional among the Felidae given the lack of females), he’ll
refrain. Fahd has always loved Laithe and wanted to be his mate, but
his own failings prevented him from taking that place in Laithe’s
life. Experience has given him the traits he needs, and with Rowan
giving every indication that she’s willing to take him as well as
Laithe on, well, things are looking up. Together these three burn up
the sheets and create a trio that you won’t soon forget.
The secondary
characters consist of the other members of Laithe’s pride. Catan the
Lynx, a man with a sad past. Morgan of the Pardus clan and Rajiv of
the Tigris. Laithe’s three younger brothers: Asad, who bears
affection for Catan; Lev, the next to youngest brother and Usama,
the youngest and a rare white lion. These men will star in future
books of The Felidae. All of them have their own charms and I
look forward to reading their stories.
Jade Buchanan is
a talented new author and has created many unique characters and a
storyline that’s entertaining. Book 2 in The Felidae, ASAD’S MATE,
is coming soon. Don’t miss LAITHE’S PRIDE, as it’s a great book
(especially for all of you who are fascinated by cats).
