Lynden in the Kingdom of Westmyre - Medieval Times

Allard Dunmore is the second in the trio of Dunmore bastards and one of the most brilliant lawyers in the land. He’s also become somewhat of a stick-in-the-mud whose world is shaken up by an impish thief with lavender eyes who’s determined to gain his aid, willingly or not.

Sure, kidnapping Allard Dunmore may not be the most clever way to ensure he helps her find her father, but Jo can’t come up with anything better. Her father always insisted Allard was a fine man and if ever he should disappear, she should seek his aid.

One thing her father probably didn’t count on was the chemistry that immediately flares to life when they meet. Could the way to earn Allard’s help be found only amongst the bed sheets, or will his noble side come to the forefront and convince him to believe a common thief with uncommon determination?

Once again, the trio of fairy godmothers with beautiful names and snappy tempers is called upon to help another Dunmore find the love of his life in PRINCESS OF THIEVES. Rose, Snapdragon, and Pansy really have their work cut out for them in this installment. Matching up a thief and a lawyer is highly risky, and with magic of the darkest sort loose in Lynden, just keeping Allard and Jo alive may be enough of a challenge on its own. Allard may be a bit of a spoilsport, insisting that Jo should listen to his advice, stay safe while he investigates, and generally accept that he knows best, but really, he’s just trying to protect the woman who’s quickly making him forget that he ever found another woman enchanting enough to propose to. Readers of the series will remember Allard proposed to Lady Jane who later married his best friend, Wynn, in LADY STRUMPET. Jo is certainly a firebrand, and while she understands that Allard is just trying to keep her safe, she’s more than capable of taking care of herself, and no gentleman, no matter what sensual tactics he uses, is going to tell her what she can and can’t do. Did I mention yet that both Allard and Jo are clever, good looking, and most importantly, extremely stubborn?

Lady Jane and Wynn are among the more important secondary characters in this tale. Though Allard and Wynn haven’t yet come to terms with Allard’s previous proposal to Jane, the couple doesn’t hesitate to help Allard and Jo when they need it. Whether or not their friendship will ever regain its previous strength is a mystery I’ll let you discover for yourself. Judge Tibult is one of Allard’s supporters; he believes that Allard is destined for the bench, and once there, that no one will surpass his skill. Duke Benedict Caryn is a friend of the Dunmores and seems smitten with Jo, even offering her his protection. Graham Dunmore, the youngest of the brothers, as well as Finella and Samantha (Allard’s mothers) also revisit readers in this book. Poor Graham, it looks likely that the fairy godmothers are going to be giving him some up close and personal attention. Though to be fair, he may need it if he’s ever going to fulfill his destiny.

Don’t miss the other two books in the Demons of Dunmore series either, LORD DEMON’S DELIGHT (January 2007) and the aforementioned LADY STRUMPET (May 2007), as they’re both entertaining and unusual reads and will fill you in on all the happenings in Westmyre. If you like your fantasies with plenty of heat, laughter, danger, and enemies in disguise, as well as characters who’ll grab your interest from page one, then you’re sure to be happy with this book.
