Portland, Oregon - Present Day

Weight loss counselor Samantha Rutledge is not having a very good day.  After a less-than inspiring pep talk from her never-been-overweight boss, Sam is told that she has to lose thirty pounds in the next few weeks.  To cheer herself up, Sam and her best friend Rosie indulge in a delicious lunch, a walk, and then an estate sale.  One of the “treasures” Sam finds is a stone box with a beautiful spun glass bottle inside, and when she gets home, she realizes it’s not just a bottle.  When a drop-dead gorgeous man appears through a vaporous mist and tells her that he will fulfill her every sexual desire and grant her three wishes, Samantha isn’t sure what to believe.

Once a fierce warrior, in trying to save a foolish young girl’s life, Lugal Damu-zid was cursed into a bottle, to serve womankind for eternity.  In the five thousand years since, Lugal has had many possessors, and has granted many wishes, but Samantha and her world spark his interest in a way nothing has for a few millennia.  He hasn’t been summoned in almost one hundred and fifty years, and much has changed in this time.  Even more intriguing than the modern technology though, is the beautiful woman who is his possessor.  Intelligent, sensual and caring, Samantha makes Lugal feel truly alive.  Through six lunar cycles, or until her three wishes are granted, Lugal will stay with Sam, but for the first time, Lugal has a wish of his own; that he be able to stay.

Daisy Dexter Dobbs has created another humorous, fanciful tale filled with real people and emotions in SAMANTHA AND HER GENIE.  Though he hates the confinement of the bottle and dark void of his existence while trapped there, Lugal has accepted his fate, and given up on hoping that the goddess Innana will ever hear his pleas.  It’s a bit of a challenge to not attack all of the gadgets Sam has in her home, and this leads to some very funny situations, but Lugal also wants to learn about his temporary home.  Samantha is a compassionate woman who hates to see others hurting, so the fact that she falls for Lugal so quickly isn’t difficult to believe.  Between incredibly erotic and adventurous sexual encounters, Lugal and Samantha get to know each other fairly well, and it doesn’t take her long to realize that Lugal doesn’t deserve his fate.  But will she be able to break his curse?  I highly recommend picking up a copy of the very amusing SAMANTHA AND HER GENIE to find out.
